The particularity of this village located north from Ibiza: it is the least populated on the island, with less than 6,000 inhabitants living there all year round. A peacefull place preserved sbecause Sant Joan is not overwhelmed by tourists, which gives it a calm and an absolute authentic atmosphere. The proof with the hippies presence who appreciate this natural and protected space. Hippies who were numerous in the 70s, at the height of the movement, to come and enjoy the tranquility of the village. Nowadays they still regularly organize a gathering on the beach of Benniras on Sunday evening, to admire the sunset.
Walking around Sant Joan is like entering into communion with wild landscapes, between forests and streams, natural landscapes that offer exceptional panoramas.
This place is so well preserved that it welcomes many lovers of agrotourism, this increasingly widespread form of tourism, which consists of travelling on agricultural land to soak up its authenticity. Among the natural wonders to visit in Sant Joan there are of course its beaches, such as Benniras and its hippie atmosphere, but also the Sant Miquel port beach. On the way you will pass in front of the magnificent Cova de Can Marça. In the surroundings you can stop in Portinatx, a more touristic area but with beaches with transparent waters, the small S’Arenal and the large S’Arenal.
